Manchester Academy

February 18th, 2006 (10:52 pm)

Well, we couldn't catch an early train and, yes, it was my fault. I was having my hair done hehe. Anywhoo, after much excitement we arrived at the Academy at about 2ish. To our suprise there was actually quite a few people there already but we legged it around the back to the tour buses anyway. Bit pissed off to see they'd put barriers up from the back door to the bus. Last time there was nothing at all and the guys just poked their heads around the door.

So anyway the door was wide open so we were watching what was going on in there. Some weird music started playing and then the roadies started testing equipment. After waiting around for a bit we decided we weren't gonna see the guys so we went to join the line. There was already a lot of people qued but we still got quite a good place. Gina and Jen came and said 'Hi' which was really cool!

Made friends with loads of people in the line. Danced to 'Vengaboys' and 'S Club 7' because a guy had ipod speakers. Shout out to the circle of friends...

Pat walked past us and I shouted him but he completely ignored me. I ran after him because I wanted to give him this...

but I was like 'Pat?' and he goes 'WHAT?!?!' really rudely. I was actually gobsmacked because he'd always been really nice to me. I think he was busy so I told him I'd see him later...

Managed to get right to the front for SP and I can't really say much more than they ROCKED really! I was bouncing about and probably giving people some bruises haha! Managed to catch Seb's eye a few times which was cool. Eventually, the intense rocking got too much and I had to come out of the pit halfway through the set before I fainted . That's when I went to find Patrick.

Pat was being so grumpy but his face lit up when I eventually gave him the sticker. He hugged me and gave me a kiss saying 'thank you' and then disappeared with his laptop leaving me with PT *dribble* Me and PT did some dancing and singing to the na na nas in I'd Do Anything.

I asked Pat for a pic later on and he got all grumpy again. I was stood waiting for him to finish texting and PT tapped his shoulder and like went 'Pat.' and pointed at me. He completely ignored me and then when we did take a picture he didn't say a word of even look at me (or even the camera for that matter). I almost said to PT 'What the hell is wrong with him?!?!?'

Wish I asked PT for a photo instead! I'm such an idiot! Aaaaargh!

After the show we waited around the back for the guys to come out. Seb and Jamie came out and Seb signed autographs (there were loads of people unfortunately). Didn't feel very special at all. Me and Seb had a photo taken but it only took a picture of my eye because I'd left it zoomed in! AAAAARGH! Then Jeff came out and signed stuff. Didn't feel special either.

Then my dad appeared very angry because I hadn't been answering my phone and demanded we went to the car. Bit gutted really. I would have stayed all night!

So, I guess, now I read back, I didn't have that much of a brilliant night. But it was still awesome and I did enjoy seeing the boys again. It just didn't really go to...plan.

Bristol Academy

February 16th, 2006 (11:01 am)

Got to Bristol, bought chocolate covered waffles and walked down to the venue. Arrived at about 5pm and there was a big queue, but fern was right at the front so we pushed our way thru the barrier and right down to the front of the queue with her. Yes, we are naughty like that. Sorry, but we had travelled all day so we deserved to push in. haha.

By the time they opened the doors I ran crazyfast down to the front and saved places on the front barrier… me, Lowri, Alysha & fern, front row right infront of David's mic stand. The way it should be J haha. Not bad being that we only arrived 2 hours earlier.

The show in Bristol was amazing, Fern got onstage during MC Lars' set to play air-drums and he asked her name and said 'nice to meet you fern', then laughed at himself. It was pretty ironic being that they've met and hung out like a hundred times. Haha. FERN ROCKED IT. SHE WAS AMAZING!! BEST AIR-DRUMMING AROUND. It was so cool to see our best friend onstage infront of everyone, especially during MC Lars' set because I know just how much it meant to her! J

HIPV were really great again, I couldn't keep my eyes offa their drummer, especially because he was right bang in front of me. YUMYUM. Haha.

Simple Plan….well, before they had even sung one lyric David had spotted us with a big smile and wave and 'heeey' J I love that boy. He spent the whole show singing to us, and laughing at our dancing, and at one point we weren't dancing, he came over and started doing our 'dance move' so we would dance. It was insanely funny, we all just burst out laughing. It just showed tonight that we don't need to meet the band anymore because they still recognise us and they still remember and there's still a connection there, especially with David, he just constantly catches our eye and sings to us and makes little jokes. And Jeff just constantly stares at us in that flirty sleezy way that we are all used to. Haha.and whenever he comes and struts his stuff before us we shout out random heckles like 'OI SEXY!' and make him smile. Haha. Oh and Chuck was ssooo cute aswell, he waved at us when he first came on, and he kept looking over and laughing at us dancing.

And then the most amazing thing happened…..THEY GOT MC LARS ONSTAGE TO PLAY 'HOT TOPIC'!!! We all just properly spazzed out in hyperness and screaming. Haha. And MC Lars just gave us this massive smile like 'yeah we're playing it!' Then Chuck saw us and with a big smile on his face he mouthed 'this is for you!' and pointed to us! Awww. We were so happy, they actually played it when we asked them to. I will always be thankful to Chuck after that. Haha.

Bristol was almost as good as Nottingham, but it doesn't beat it, I felt different at each show. Bristol just made me happy because it made me realise that I'm always going to love being at a Simple Plan show, no matter what because I grew up with so many good times with that band and I do love them a lot, even tho we pretend not to sometimes. Haha.

We didn't bother waiting around to meet the guys because we had to get our last train home, and because we all left on a high and we felt like we'd said everything we needed to say to them already, we thanked David and Chuck when they were onstage and they both smiled a lot, so there was nothing else left to say.

I don't feel the need to meet them anymore, and although this tour did not AT ALL go to plan, in the end, it probably worked out better. I love the way I feel about those guys now, its totally different to before. I didn't think I'd be happy with it like this, but it's definitely for the best.

There's probably only about 5 people reading this who understand what I'm talking about, but that's cool.

I want to say a big 'THANKYOU' to the following… LOWRI, ALYSHA, FERN, Julie, Lauren, Jon, Iain, Linzi, Emma, Pam, Steffi, Gina & Jen, Kaz, Abbie, Nicky & Jenny, Katy and anyone else we hung out with this year because we had amazing times and I love you guys a lot. Hehe xxxx

Nottingham Rock City

February 15th, 2006 (08:10 pm)

Last night must have been one of my favourite SP shows ever! They seemed to be having so much fun that they didn’t want to leave the stage!

We started queuing really early so we got right to the front of the stage. I didn’t think they would but when they came on, Simple Plan recognised! David was pointing at us with Jeff and talking to eachother!

As it was Valentine’s Day, they played Summer Lovin’ of Grease and sang Foxy Lady again but this time Jeff came on wearing a bra! David was putting roses behind his ear and then he got thrown a dildo! Hahaha. He was being really sick like saying “If you’re gonna throw your butt plug, at least give me some batteries” and then someone actually threw some batteries onstage!

They spotted a guy in the crowd with a banner that said “Chuck, let me play Welcome to My Life” and Pierre got him onstage to give him some free drumsticks as they’d already played WTML. Then Chuck said “Let’s see what you can do” and the guy started playing WTML for them which was really cool.

They saw a girl who was wearing a thing on her head that said “Birthday Girl” on it and David put it on his head for bit.

After the show we stayed behind to meet them even though it was pouring down with rain. We went for some shelter under the hotel platform and eventually Chuck came out to talk to everyone. He was being really nice and he said he saw us rocking out down the front!

Jeff walked past and said “You alright, ladies?” and we were like “Yeah, thanks.” As he walked off we were thinking “Awww why didn’t we make him stop?!?” lol!

Seb and Jamie came out too but everyone left them alone because, after all, it was Valentine’s Day. We asked Jamie when Pierre and David would be coming out and she said it could be up to an hour and a half.

By this time we were probably catching hypothermia so we asked the bus driver what time he was taking them away and he said about two. It was about half one so we thought we might as well wait.

Pierre and David eventually came out but they were extremely drunk! Someone shouted “Hey, it’s Pierre.” And he said (drunk) “No it isn’t!” and went off to hide somewhere. David was like “That was rude.”

I talked to David for a while but he kept having to text people back on his phone. I said “You’re Mr Popular tonight” and he said “It’s just family and it’s Valentine’s Day, ya know?” Then he randomly said “I got my sky diving license! I can’t wait to get home and use it!” which I thought was quite funny.

We saw David at All American Rejects the night before. The whole crew was there! It was really weird because this guy came and stood right in front of us and then we realised it was David! We didn’t want to say anything to him, though, because he was out doing his own thing.
So that was Nottingham! Bristol tonight so be sure to check back tomorrow!

London Astoria

February 13th, 2006 (06:33 pm)

Last night was much more energetic than the night before. I also enjoyed this gig a lot more than the other one and so did Simple Plan: "London, you're kicking London's ass!"

The set list was pretty much the same but they sang a song by Jimi Hendrix which was completely un-practiced, apparently. They also sang One which they said they hadn't sung for months and Pierre kept messing up the words hehe! He made up an acoustic song so that it wasn't the same as the one they did but he stopped and said "Aaaah this song sucks!" If you want to stalk Patrick, he was doing merch for both night's in London so he probably is for the other dates too.

There were so many cameras around and I'm sure they must have them there for doing a proper DVD or something.

Random bit of info: James Bourne (ex-busted/son of dork) was in the VIP section getting his groove on haha!

We're off to see All American Rejects in Nottingham tonight and, apparently, so is Pierre! I hope we bump into him at some point!

Keep sending in your pics to Jody!

London Astoria

February 12th, 2006 (11:32 am)

Last night wasn't at all as packed as we expected. The Astoria's usually really full and it wasn't so much this time to say it was a sold out gig. We didn't enjoy it as much either because we did manage to get as near to the front as we usually do. Saying that though, it was still a great show!

The set list was pretty much the same as they did last year. They opened with the sirens straight into Shut Up like on the Hard Rock DVD and did a Hip-Hop tribute to MC Lars by singing Drop It Like It's Hot and P.I.MP. They did the usual: Shut Up, Worst Day Ever, Promise, Happy Together, Perfect, Untitled and so on. They made up an acoustic song about London but apparently they do it at every show and just change the town name haha! David played some more drums and Chuck did his good old flag waving trick again. Pierre just kept talking about sex so, kids, don't take your parents!

The gig ended really early at about 9:30 so almost everyone who wanted to meet them had time to go and wait. Chuck had said that he wanted to hang out with us after the show but they didn't actually come out until quarter to 11! And when they did they had big black cars pull right up at the doors. All the kids were screaming and David and Pierre just ran straight into the cars. They had cameras around so it looked to me like they were just trying to look a bit like huge rock stars for the cameras. "Look at us, the UK loves us!" sort of thing and we heard Andy Karp say to someone "That's Rock 'n' Roll!" but it isn't!

Despite the other two legging it, Chuck and Jeff stayed to sign autographs. Two girls tried to open the door to David's car but he started freaking out because he was on the phone hahaha!

I wouldn't say it was my favourite SP show. It was just like any usual Simple Plan show to me, really.

Our pics won't be up until we get home but in the mean time, send yours to Jody at gregory@simpleplan-uk.com and they'll get added to the diary with full credit! Also, if you'd like to voice your opinions on last night please comment on this blog! You don't even have to be a member of livejournal.

Hope you're all doing OK! Another update about tonight's show coming soon!

SPUK NEEDS YOU!

February 4th, 2006 (11:13 am)

That's right! The tour of the UK starts in exactly a week's time and we need your help! We want any pictures you take (or have taken) either of Simple Plan playing live or of you with the band! The plan is to make the biggest fan gallery the net has ever seen. You will be credited for the all the pictures and they will go in the newly refurbished SP-UK gallery.
Send your photos to gregory@simpleplan-uk.com and include your name, email adress, date of show/encounter, venue and, if you have one, your website adress (it can be myspace or livejournal if you want). If you want your images tagging so that nobody else will steal them, I'll do that for you.

On another note, Caz and Lowri will not be going to Manchester anymore but I will so if you see me come over and say "Hi!" I won't bite...hard :p

I've realised that I've not posted up the actual tourdates here yet so here they are:

Saturday 11th Feb- London, Astoria.
Sunday 12th Feb- London, Astoria.
Tuesday 14th Feb- Nottingham, Rock City.
Wednesday 15th Feb- Bristol, Carling Academy.
Friday 17th Feb- Manchester, Academy.
Saturday 18th Feb- Glasgow, Academy.
Sunday 19th Feb- Dublin, Ambassadors.
Support acts have been confirmed as MC Lars and Hidden In Plain View

If you want to check out what happened at the show near you, it'll be posted the night after. Obviously, we can't update while we're at the show!

Some lovely graphics are being provided soon for this journal to make it look good by the lovely Alyssa at
Reckl3ss Graphix and a layout is yet to be sorted out...

That's all from me for now. Enjoy the tour!

What is this?

November 20th, 2005 (11:21 am)

Hiya, people! This is a tour diary for Simple Plan's February 2006 tour written by me (Jody), Caz & Lowri. Between us, we'll be at every date so we'll be updating this journal after every night to inform you guys of what's going on with the tour.

Hopefully, we'll be able to post loads of different things about the guys and conversations we've had with them. We'll be posting pics too so if you've got any from the nights. Let us know!

I just want to make it clear that this is NOT an Official tour diary. It is simply three fans who have booked tickets for every show. We are NOT going on tour with them! I wish!
